From No Looks to Sold: Mom’s Home Under Contract in Three Days
Selling a parent’s home is emotional enough, but when it sits on the market month after month without attracting any interest, the strain can be unbearable. Frustrated after six months of working with another agent to sell his mother’s house, Sam and his wife, Jackie, contacted us. Their previous agent had sloppily put together the MLS listing, failing to fill in key details; didn’t provide any interior photos of the house; and included a description using verbiage that actually made the home sound unattractive. He listed the house at $249, 950 and dropped the price to $235,750 when (not surprisingly) no interest was generated by the lackluster listing.
We helped them prepare the house for sale and created a strategic marketing plan that included virtual staging to make the empty home seem more inviting. Within three days of listing, Sam and Jackie had an offer and closed on the contract in 30 days with a price they never imagined possible: $275,000. Since we handled all the details through this process, Sam and Jackie were able to devote time to the most important part of the picture: the care of Sam’s mom.
We sold their home for $25,500 more than its original list price and within three days!
Though the house was empty, we virtually staged the home on the MLS listing, showing potential buyers how beautiful the home would look with stylish furniture. Check out these before and after pix and you can see what a huge impact this kind of attention to detail can have
